What do you think the chances are that characters like Tamamo And Shuten will be free mode only? Hundun was free mode before so I guess it kinda makes sense he would be, but it’d be really disappointing if two of the most evil Japanese mythological figures are just casted out to free mode.
After experimenting with an open-world structure in Dynasty Warriors 9, Warriors Orochi 4 makes a bold return to the franchise's roots. Players will unlock a staggering 170 different.
I know there’s no definite answer yet, but with Tamamo and kyubi being unlockable straight away depending on what version you buy makes me think they won’t be featured in the story as they’d both be unlocked there. I’m trying to think positively that they will be and maybe you unlock one early for whatever new mode the game has and you unlock the other one normally through the story? She’s my fav so I’ll be very disappointed if she’s just free mode. Wait why is Tamamo unlocked straight away? I know Kyubi is a Season Pass character but I didn’t see anything about Tamamo.
It’s also important to consider what you mean by free mode only. A lot of villains are usually “free mode only” in the sense that they’re only playable there. Like you can’t play Orochi in story mode as you unlock him once you complete the main campaign (except in WO3U where they added the extra 4 chapters and you can). Or by free mode only do you mean people who have 0 relevance to the story and don’t show up at all in it? For the sake of my points I’m going to assume you meant the latter. Besides that, I didn’t even think about what her being on season pass could mean for her role in the story, and that’s a bit disappointing now that I have. I was hoping Kyubi would show up in some form but I doubt they would now that she’s DLC.
Maybe Tamamo will show up still as she isn’t DLC? Maybe Zeus will free her from the mirror but we’ll stop her before she transforms or something? Besides Tamamo, I really hope Hundun isn’t a character left in his own corner like in WO3. I hope he has some relevance in the story, being the guy who’s kind of causing all of this. He’s much more intimidating than Zeus or Odin. Shuten Doji will definitely show up in the story, in WO3 he ended as a good guy and since he’s a mystic there’s no reason for him to lose his memories and return to his old ways.
He’ll probably hang around Taigong Wang like he did the last time. From what I've seen on the, Tamamo and Kyubi are 'early character releases' (thanks Google Translate) for the Switch and PS4 Deluxe Editions respectively.
The Deluxe Edition includes 3 bonus weapons (for Lu Bu, Orochi, and Tadakatsu Honda), Kyubi (Tamamo for the Switch), 30,000 Growth Points, and 3,000 Arena Points along with the Season Pass, which itself includes 10 costumes, 10 scenarios, 10 BGM tracks, 16 sacred treasures, 5 mounts, and 1 game mode. However, what's really confusing me here is this 'early character release' dealio.
Do Switch DE owners get Tamamo from the get-go while PS4 DE owners get Kyubi unlocked instead? Is the form not mentioned in a DE listing DLC or just locked behind progress in the game? And do non-DE owners have to buy both as DLC or can they unlock both by playing the game? I really hope Koei clarifies this stuff in the coming months. Sorry I guess what I should have said is “do you think she’ll be in the story?” Rather than mention unlocking, because as you say a lot of characters are usually unlocked at the end of the game where they are just free mode characters. I’m not bothered about her being free mode only, so long as she is in the story. I don’t want her being just a bonus character.
The damn witch almost brought down an entire kingdom by herself. That level of accomplishment should not be demoted to “non story/free mode only” lol. As for the pre order bonus of unlocking her and Kyubi. You basically get one or the other from the get go, for the games modes outside of story. Neither are DLC characters, as they are both on disc.
But depending on which version you buy you’ll get access to one of them from the get go rather than fulfilling whatever requirements to unlock characters.
